Yesterday the University of Manitoba Bisons took on the St. Mary's University Huskies at the Rogers Centre in Toronto competing in the 2007 Dejardins Vanier Cup just two days before the Grey Cup. Manitoba went into this game after defeating Western in the Mitchell Bowl 52-20.
St. Mary's was coming off a huge Uteck bowl victory over the defending champions Laval 24-2. Both teams came off blow out victories which made this game evenly matched and a hot place to be Friday.
Manitoba was down late in the game when Henry looked up and saw quarterback John Makie among his concerned teammates on the sidelines. "When he was down on the ground, he said 'go get it you guys. Go win it for me.'And we did". Manitoba's 28-14 victory over St Mary's gave the Bisons there first Canadian university football championship since 1970. The Manitoba Bisons finished with one of the best defences in the CIS allowing only 2 touchdowns in nearly 7 games.
